Newsletter - 1 December 2011 (Term 4: Weeks 5 & 6)
Kia Ora Koutou
The annual Mangonui School Christmas in the Park was a huge success. The line-up of quality entertainment throughout the day reflected the talented youth we have in our area. It is a massive job organising this event, planning starts at the beginning of the year. Tam Sparksman and the Kotahitanga whanau did a brilliant job bringing everything together (even the weather). We are extremely fortunate and grateful to have school community members that are prepared to give up their time to support our school, thank you.
Class lists have been confirmed for 2012. This information is available
on the daily notices board from Monday next week. If you have any concerns
or issues over your child's placement please contact Dave through the
school office.
Reports will be sent out to whanau on Friday the 9th of December. There
are two types of reports. Please read the 'Explanation of Reports' section
in the newsletter.
Thanks once again to all our amazing school whanau for your help on Saturday.

Explanation of Reports
There are two types of reports:
Report Number 1 – Reporting at the end of a year
Reporting at the end of Year 1,2,3 and Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6
When your child has reached the end of their first, second or third anniversary at school you will receive a report that tells you if your child is 'well below', 'below', 'at' or 'above' the National Standards for their particular 'Year Anniversary'.
After the third anniversary it changes to 'After Year 4', After Year 4 and After Year 6
If your child has spent a year in the Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 classroom you will receive a report that tells you if your child is 'well below', 'below', 'at' or 'above' the National Standards for their particular 'year level'. If your child is a Year 3 student in a Year 4 classroom they will still receive their report based on 'After 3 Years'.
Report Type Number 2 – Progress report
Reporting During the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd anniversary at school
Some students will have had their anniversary at school earlier on in the year. You will receive a report at this date (or near that date). Your child cannot be reported against a National Standard (as they have not reached that milestone) at the end of year. You will instead receive a 'Progress Report' that will indicate the progress your child is making towards the National Standard. There are quite a few of these reports.
Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 students will all receive their progress report at Mid -Year. Junior students receive it depending on the anniversary of their 1st 2nd and 3rd years at school.
Additional Information
You will be given your child's next learning steps and receive tips on what you can do at home to support your child's learning at school.
Confused?
Do not hesitate to contact Dave if you need further clarity. It is important that you understand the reporting process as we really want you engaged with it.
