Mangonui Primary School Kotahitanga Parent Group
Mangonui School Kotahitanga is a group which provides the opportunity to meet and talk with other parents who have the same goals as you. Our group provides the opportunity to serve, to volunteer and to contribute to the welfare of all pupils.
Group Purpose
The purpose of our Mangonui Primary School Kotahitanga Parent Group (working together as one) is building our school community through:
- Communication,
- Fundraising/support,
- Acting on behalf of parents and
- Building relationships through our school and community.
Please join us
Our Group takes great pride in ensuring our pupils are supported through their education journey at Mangonui School. Making every childs potential a reality is our vision.
Please join our efforts to achieve this for the children. Meetings are held monthly in the school staff room, watch out for notices coming home in the newsletter.
2011 Events
Friday 18 February: Bake Day – Rooms 1, 3, 5, 7
Could parents in these classrooms send some baking with their child to
school next Friday. Alternatively it can be dropped off at school in the
morning.
Friday 18 March 6pm at school: School BBQ
Come along and meet other parents, teachers, Board members and Kotahitanga members. Sausages will be supplied. BYO non alcoholic drinks and any other food you wish to bring. Swimming pool will be open and maybe a softball game between parents and students.
Term 2: Disco / Comedy Evening
Term 3: Bake Day – Rooms 2, 4, 6
Term 4: Christmas in the Park
The Kotahitanga group are looking for new members. If you are interested,
come along to a meeting and see what it is all about. It's a great way
to meet other parents and support your child's school!
Past projects
School Disco
We held a school disco at the St John's Ambulance hall in Coopers Beach.
It was a very successful event, the children had a great time and we raised
significant funds to help us to stage our Christmas in the Park event.
A big thanks to all the parents who came along to help on the night.
Bake Days
We have held several bake days. Parents and caregivers from selected classes
contributed baking to be sold at morning tea or lunchtime. These have
been very popular with the children and have been a worthwhile fundraising
activity.
Christmas in the Park
On Saturday 28 November 2009 Mangonui School hosted the
first Christmas in the Park. Family and friends came along with their
picnic blankets and enjoyed the time together relaxing listening to music,
Christmas carols, stalls and food for sale.
We provided a rock climbing wall, a volcano maze and a Scooby Doo maze which includes a rock wall inside with a big slide as you exit, a bouncy Castle for the little children, entertainment from Belly Dancers to Country singers, Kapa Haka, market stalls, Santa arrived on a Fire Engine and much more.
