This term our focus for maths is measurement.

At the moment we have been learning about length and how to measure accurately.

A question was put to the children and they had to do some experiments in order to answer the question.

QUESTION – Does the size of the planes wing span affect the distance it can fly?

The children had to make a hypothesis first and most children thought that the bigger the wing span the further their plane would fly.

The children had to design and make 3 different paper planes with 3 different wing spans.

They had to test each plane 4 times and then find the average flight.

The children found out that if the body of their plane and the wing span were even then that plane flew the furthest.

So they found that the middle plane flew the furthest.
